Veneer and bridge applications are types of fixed prosthesis that are made in cases where the tooth tissue is partially or completely lost due to any reason such as caries or abrasion, and which fill the gap of the lost tooth with support from the side teeth or that surround the tooth from all sides by fully adapting to the partially damaged tooth. In this way, the remaining damaged tooth tissue is protected. In addition, the appearance is provided with aesthetic arrangements and the damaged tooth takes part in chewing function again.
Things to Consider When Using Fixed Prosthesis;
• Do not use your prosthesis for very hard objects and foods. You should avoid unusual forces such as breaking hazelnuts or peanut shells, trying to open a bottle cap, or trying to bend various metals.
• Do not neglect your dental care. A common mistake is that after having dentures, there will be no need for dental care because they will not rot anyway. Since dentures are artificial materials, they do not decay themselves, but if the bacteria at the tooth and gum border are not cleaned well, gum recession will occur in a short time and the teeth under the crowns will be exposed and decay will begin in these parts that are not cleaned well. The most important factor that will ensure the longevity of the prosthesis is oral hygiene.
• For oral and denture care, effective brushing at least twice a day, dental floss or interdental brush, and use of superfloss under the bridge body will be sufficient.
• People using prosthesis should have a check-up every 6 months, even if they have no complaints, in order to prevent problems that may occur later.
